Exceptions to the ban on truck driving on Sundays and statutory holidays are possible under certain circumstances. You must apply for these at the responsible office.

On Sundays and public holidays, trucks with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 7.5 t and trailers behind trucks are not allowed to drive between 0:00 and 22:00. This ban does not apply to certain goods (e.g. various perishable foodstuffs).

Under certain conditions, an exemption may be granted upon application.

Evidence of the need for a special permit for the specific circumstances.

Written application with reasons (in particular the urgency), indication of the route, business license, vehicle registration certificate, certificate of the client, if necessary further documents required by the competent authority.

The transport must be urgent. Economic or competitive reasons are not sufficient.

According to the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt), there is a general fee range of 10.20 euros to 767.00 euros for a decision on an exception to the traffic ban for trucks (Geb.-Nr. 264).

The exemption must be applied for in writing.
