If you are planning to start up an X-ray facility that is exempt from approval under the legal basis, you must notify the competent authority.
A significant change in the operation of an X-ray facility that does not require a license must also be notified.

- Appointment of a medical physics expert for examinations with ionizing radiation performed with a computer tomograph or with devices for three-dimensional imaging of objects with low X-ray contrast, with the exception of tomosynthesis
The complete notification documents must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the planned start of operation. Provided that the operation is not subject to licensing, the notifying party may operate the X-ray equipment after expiration of this period, unless the competent authority has suspended the procedure or prohibited the operation.
If the notifying party receives a confirmation of notification from the competent authority within the 4 weeks, the notifying party may already operate the X-ray equipment upon receipt of this confirmation.
Technical X-ray equipment for coarse structure analysis in materials testing and medical X-ray equipment for treatment as well as in teleradiology are subject to approval. The licensing authority is the Thuringian State Office for the Environment, Mining and Nature Conservation.
