Thuringia Restaurant Act (ThürGastG)

You must notify the competent authority of the operation of a restaurant.

If you want to operate a restaurant, you need a business registration. Since the restaurant trade is considered a trade requiring special supervision, additional documents must be submitted to assess reliability (according to § 2 ThürGastG).

• Certificate of good conduct for submission to authorities (apply to municipality of residence)
• Information from the central business register (apply to the municipality of residence or company headquarters)
• at the request of the competent authority: tax clearance certificate from the tax office
• for legal entities: Excerpt from the Commercial Register or Register of Associations

In addition to the fees for the business registration, fees must be paid for the extracts from the Federal Central Register as well as the Central Trade Register.

Anyone wishing to operate a catering business must notify the competent authority no later than two weeks before opening the establishment. In addition, the authority must be notified two weeks in advance of the type of food and beverages planned.
