If you are admitted to or move into a hospital, home or similar institution, you only need to register as soon as the stay exceeds three months and you are not registered for an apartment within Germany.

If you are admitted to or move into a hospital, nursing home, or other institution that serves to care for people in need of care or disabled people or to educate them in a home, you are not subject to the obligation to register as long as you are registered for another home in Germany.

If this is not the case, you must register with the registration office as soon as your stay exceeds three months. If you are not able to register in person, then this must be done by the managers of the of the facilities.

There are no fees to pay.

You must be registered with the registration office within two weeks as soon as it is foreseeable that your stay will exceed three months and you are not registered for any other home in Germany.

If the leader takes over the reporting, then you will be informed.

• If you cannot do this yourself, then the management of the facility will take over the registration.
• Responsible: the registration office of the municipality in which the hospital or care facility is located.
