Anyone wishing to operate an eye test center requires recognition from the competent authority.

If you would like to operate a vision screening center, you will need regulatory approval.
Requirements:

• The persons entrusted with the eye tests have the required expertise.
• The equipment used complies with the legal requirements.
• The premises allow the tests to be carried out without the presence of third parties.
• Regular medical supervision of the performance is ensured.

• Evidence that the above requirements have been met.
• An informal application must be submitted.

According to No. 214.2 Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt): 51.10 Euro to 307.00 Euro

The following offices are already recognized as vision screening offices and do not need to submit an application:

• Assessment centers for driving suitability (§ 66 FeV),
• physicians of the public health department or other physicians of the public administration,
• physicians with the regional designation "occupational medicine",
• physicians with the additional title "occupational medicine" and
• opticians' establishments (Section 67 (4) FeV).
