If you want to train or have trained persons who want to become driving instructors (driving instructor candidates), you need the official recognition of your company as a driving instructor training center.

If you want to train people who want to become driving instructors (driving instructor candidates) or have them trained, you need official recognition of your company as a driving instructor training center.

1. application with the name and address of the driving instructor training center,
2. documents proving the suitability of the person appointed to be the responsible manager of the driving instructor training school and a statement of what other professional obligations the proposed responsible manager is required to fulfill,
3. a list of instructors and documents evidencing the suitability of the instructors,
4. a plan, to scale, of the classrooms with details of their equipment,
5. a statement that the prescribed teaching materials are available,
6. a statement of the number and type of teaching vehicles,
7. the training plan,
8. a confirmation from the competent tax authority that the tax obligations have been fulfilled,
9. a certificate of good conduct for presentation to the licensing authority (document type 0) and information from the commercial central register for the applicant and the intended responsible manager (proof: deposit receipt); both not older than three months.

The application of a legal entity must also be accompanied by a certified excerpt from the commercial register or register of associations, or the application of an association without legal capacity must be accompanied by documents on the power of representation of the persons acting on its behalf.

The requirements for official recognition are regulated in § 37 FahrlG:

Official recognition shall be granted if.
1. there are no facts which make the owner or the person appointed to be responsible for the management of the driving instructor training center appear unreliable for the management of a driving instructor training center,
2. the driving instructor training center has a responsible manager who is capable of expertly supervising instruction and who can guarantee that the obligations of § 40 FahrlG are fulfilled,
3. the driving instructor training center has a sufficient number of instructors at its disposal who are capable of imparting to driving instructor candidates the competencies required by § 7 FahrlG in their area of responsibility,
4. the driving instructor training center has the required classroom space and the required teaching materials and teaching vehicles at its disposal,
5. an appropriate training plan is presented.

If the owner is a legal entity or a partnership, official recognition shall be granted if the above-mentioned requirements under number 4 are met and there are no facts that make the persons authorized by law, by the articles of association or by individual procuration appear unreliable and one of them, who meets the requirement of number 1 above, is appointed as the responsible manager of the driving instructor training center.

According to No. 302.5 of the Gebührenordnung für Maßnahmen im Straßenverkehr (GebOSt) fees in the amount of 102.00 Euro to 358.00 EUR are charged, plus 30.70 to 511.00 EUR for the on-site inspection (No. 308.2 GebOSt).

3 - 5 weeks

The processing time is approximately 3 - 5 weeks.

The owner of the officially recognized driving instructor training center shall notify the licensing authority without delay:
- the relocation, the closure and
- the closure of the driving instructor training center,
- the appointment and dismissal of a responsible management of the driving instructor training center,
- changes in the teaching staff; the notification of the hiring of a teacher shall be accompanied by documents proving the suitability,
- relocation of the teaching premises,
in the case of legal entities, unincorporated associations or partnerships as owners of the officially recognized driving instructor training school:
- the appointment or resignation of persons appointed by law or by the articles of association to represent them.
