If you would like to be publicly appointed as an expert by the Chamber of Crafts, you must meet certain requirements.

The experts are publicly appointed and sworn in by the Chamber of Crafts. The basis for this is formed by the Crafts Code, Trade Regulations and the Expert Regulations. The Chamber of Skilled Crafts verifies the personal suitability and the special expertise of the experts appointed by them before the appointment and during the term of the public appointment. The publicly appointed and sworn experts shall render their expert opinions independently, free of instructions, personally, conscientiously and impartially to the best of their knowledge and belief. Every expert in the trade is bound to secrecy towards third parties. Experts work for courts, institutions, companies and consumers.

The fee for the public appointment and swearing-in of an expert by the Chamber of Crafts is based on the fee schedule of the relevant Chamber of Crafts.

With regard to remuneration, it is advisable to agree this with the expert in advance.
Compensation for the expert's work in court is regulated in the Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act (JVEG).
