If you want to market eggs from your laying hen farm, you must register it under certain conditions. When you register, your farm will also be assigned an identification number.
Laying hen farms are subject to registration if they
- keep 350 or more laying hens or
- keep fewer than 350 hens, but market their eggs subject to mandatory labeling. Labeling is not mandatory if the eggs are handed over by the producer at the production site if they have not been graded according to quality and weight classes.
Fully completed application form incl.
- Site plan showing the location of the individual stables on the farm,
- Proof of compliance with the requirements for the respective husbandry system by confirmation from the competent veterinary and food inspection office and/or the organic inspection body and
- in the case of organic production and free-range farming: compliance with the requirements for the laying hens' freedom of movement.
- Chicken farming is confirmed by the responsible veterinary and food inspection office.
- In the case of organic production, registration is confirmed by an organic inspection body.
- In the case of organic production and free-range farming: compliance with the requirements for the laying hens' freedom of movement.
The basic fee for registration and issuing one or more identification numbers is between €25 and €403. The additional fee for applying for the free-range husbandry system is between €50 and €484.
