The Thuringian State Administration Office is responsible for the public service training professions, retraining as well as continuing professional education.

The responsible office at the Training Department of the Thuringian State Administration Office performs tasks in the field of vocational training for which the "chambers" (e.g. Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Crafts) are responsible in the commercial sector.

According to the Thuringian Ordinance on Responsibilities in the Field of Vocational Training, the responsibility for:

Training occupations in the public sector

• administrative assistant
• Office communications clerk
• Specialist for media and information services
• Environmental engineering occupations (specialist for water supply technology, specialist for wastewater technology, specialist for recycling and waste management, specialist for pipe, sewer and industrial services)
• Water engineer
• Specialist for pool operations

Retraining

Retraining takes place in the above-mentioned recognized training occupations.

Vocational training

The competent body examines the admission requirements of external applicants for the final examination for the further training courses

• administrative assistant (external)
• administrative specialist
• Business Administrator - Public Management (TVS)
• Trainer qualification
• Municipal accountant
• Municipal financial accountant
• in the environmental professions (retrainees/externs)
• as a dam and water caretaker
• Master craftsman for pool operations
