After completing training at a driving school and passing the driving test, young people aged 17 and over may drive a car accompanied by an adult. An application must be submitted to the driving license authority for this.
Young people over the age of 17 may drive a car accompanied by an adult after completing training at a driving school and passing the theoretical and practical driving test. After passing the driving test, BF 17 participants receive a test certificate. They may then only drive until their 18th birthday if accompanied by a person expressly authorized to do so. The accompanying person must hold a driving license (five years in possession) and be at least 30 years old. He or she may have a maximum of 1 point in Flensburg and must be entered as a companion in the test certificate.
Upon reaching the age of 17 and after passing the driving test, the test certificate is issued, which is only valid in Germany and serves as proof of the driving license. Until the age of 18, a car may only be driven when accompanied by the registered accompanying person. After that, the driver's license will be sent or handed over.
For accompanied driving from the age of 17, an application must be submitted to the driving license authority.

- Written consent from legal guardians and accompanying persons (special application forms are available from driving schools in particular)
- if legal guardians or accompanying persons are not present at the time of application, copies of identity cards and driving licenses are required
- in the case of sole custody, proof must be submitted (negative certificate from the youth welfare office, judgment or similar)

The theoretical test may be taken no earlier than three months and the practical test no earlier than one month before the age of 17.
The fees are based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt).
If a BF 17 participant drives a motor vehicle without being accompanied by a named person, the driving license must be revoked. In addition, there is a fine, a point in the driving aptitude register, an extension of the probationary period and an order for an advanced training seminar.
When participating in accompanied driving from the age of 17 (BF 17), the minimum age for obtaining a category B and BE driving license is reduced to 17. The local driving license authority is responsible.
