If your social pedagogical professional degree does not automatically have state recognition, then you can apply for it retroactively for your degree.

State recognition of social pedagogical professional qualifications is carried out by the educational institution in accordance with the Thuringian Law on State Recognition of Social Pedagogical Professions (Thuringian Social Professions Recognition Act - ThürSozAnerkG), at which the degree is awarded For successfully completed courses of study at a state or state-recognized Thuringian university or degrees from Thuringian technical schools of social work, as well as for certificates of training and qualification in social pedagogy completed before 1996, Department 33 of the Thuringian Ministry of Social Affairs, Family and Health is responsible.
Degrees of nationals of member states of the European Union as well as nationals of third countries are also recognized in accordance with the ThürSozAnerkG by Department 550 of the Thuringian State Administration Office.

The following social pedagogical professional qualifications are recognized by the state:

1. successful completion of a bachelor's degree program that corresponds to the "Qualification Framework for Social Work" adopted by the Departmental Council for Social Work on December 4, 2008 and was completed at a state or state-recognized university in Thuringia or the Eisenach and Gera Universities of Cooperative Education as:

• state-recognized social pedagogue (Sozialpädagogin/-Sozialpädagoge),
• state-approved social worker,
• state-approved social pedagogue/social worker,
• state-approved social pedagogue/social worker.

2. successful graduation from a state or state-recognized university in Thuringia or from the Eisenach and Gera Universities of Cooperative Education in a bachelor's degree program that corresponds to the "Common Orientation Framework for Education and Upbringing in Childhood" adopted by the Conference of Youth and Family Ministers on December 14, 2010, as:

• state-recognized childhood educator
• state-recognized childhood educator

3. the successful completion of the training course :

• Educator,
• Family care worker,
• social work specialist,
• curative educator,
• curative teacher,
• curative educator

at a state or state-recognized Thuringian technical school.

Requirements for state recognition of certificates of training and qualification in social pedagogy completed before 1996:

• successful participation in the advanced training course for social pedagogues at the Erfurt / Mühlhausen College of Education in 1991 and 1992
  or
• presentation of a certificate issued by the Thuringian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs before the Thuringian Social Professions Recognition Act came into force, entitling the holder to use the occupational title "social worker
  or
• Presentation of a certificate issued by the Thuringian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs for a postgraduate degree in social work.

Education and qualification certificates of nationals of member states of the European Union and nationals of third countries are recognized.
The prerequisite is the successful completion of vocational training in the country of origin, which entitles the holder to work in a comparable social pedagogical field of activity there.
Persons whose professional qualifications are recognized must have the language skills required to perform their professional activities in the Free State of Thuringia.
Recognized qualifications:

• state-recognized social pedagogue (Sozialpädagogin / Sozialpädagoge),
• state-recognized social worker,
• state-recognized social pedagogue/social worker,
• state-recognized social pedagogue/social worker,
• state-approved educator,
• state-approved family nurse practitioner,
• state-approved social work specialist,
• state-approved curative educator,
• state-recognized curative educator,
• state-approved curative educator.

For state recognition of training and qualification certificates in social pedagogy that were completed before 1996, the certificate to be recognized must be submitted as a certified copy as well as a current extended certificate of good conduct.

For the certificate of education and qualification as a national of the member states of the European Union or as a national of third countries are to be brought:

• personal application
• proof of citizenship
• a copy and a translation, carried out by an officially appointed translator, of the qualification or training certificate entitling the holder to take up the profession in question, as well as
  if applicable, a certificate of professional experience acquired
  
• Information on the content of the training and the number of hours of training, if possible.
• proof of absence of criminal record, not older than three months
• further documents required in individual cases will be requested after receipt of the application, if necessary

• within one month:
  Acknowledgement by the competent authority of receipt of the documents received and, if applicable, notification of any documents still missing.
  
• A decision on the application will be made no later than four months after submission of the complete documentation.

• State recognition of study and training certificates is granted upon application by the respective educational institution with the certificate.

• An application for education and training certificates in social pedagogy that were completed before 1996 is made to the Thuringian Ministry for Social Affairs, Family and Health.

• The recognition of foreign educational qualifications is carried out by Department 550 of the Thuringian State Administration Office.

State recognition of study and training certificates is granted upon application by the respective educational institution with the certificate. An application for education and training certificates in social pedagogy that were completed before 1996 is made to the Thuringian Ministry for Social Affairs, Family and Health.
