If you have been diagnosed with a severe disability, you can apply for a severely disabled person's pass.

Have you been diagnosed with a degree of disability of at least 50 and would like to claim rights and benefits on the basis of this diagnosis? Then you must apply in writing for a severely disabled person's pass.

  • Exception: In the case of severely disabled people who are unable to leave the house or can only do so with the help of an ambulance, the ID card will be issued without a photograph on application. The issuing authority will then note "valid without photo" on the ID card.

The competent authority may request further documents from you if necessary.

For the renewal, please do not forget your previous severely disabled person's pass if you already have one.

You have a proven degree of disability of at least 50.

There are no fees.

You must first apply in writing or in person to the competent authority for a disability assessment. If you have been determined to have a degree of disability of at least 50, you can apply for a severely disabled person's pass.

The issuing authority will note the degree of disability, the validity and other health characteristics in the form of markings on the severely disabled person's pass. The degree of disability is indicated as a number rounded to 10 in the range from 50 to 100. In addition, the card may contain a history on the reverse side, i.e. the date from which individual findings on the degree of disability and compensation for disadvantages have been verified.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

• If you have to prove that you are severely disabled, it is sufficient to present your severely disabled person's pass. You may not be required to present the assessment notice.
• In future, the severely disabled person's ID card will be issued in credit card format.
• The period of validity of the ID card varies from person to person.
