Anyone who finds explosive ordnance, such as ammunition, bombs or grenades, must report this immediately to the competent authority.
If you, as a property owner, find explosive ordnance on your property, you must report this immediately, otherwise you will be liable to prosecution and expose yourself and other persons to a high degree of danger. Often explosive ordnance is not recognizable as such. Many are rusted beyond recognition or resemble commercial objects in appearance. The duty to report also applies to walkers who find ammunition.
Explosive ordnance includes all munitions intended for warfare, in particular bombs, mines, grenades, explosives and detonators.
The costs, in particular of salvaging, transporting and destroying the explosive ordnance, are generally charged to the owner on whose property the ammunition was found. The owner can apply to the Thuringian State Administration Office for the costs to be borne.
