Anyone wishing to hunt needs a hunting license issued in Germany.

Anyone wishing to hunt in Germany must be able to produce a hunting license in his or her name (Section 15 (1) of the Federal Hunting Act).

The hunting license is issued by the authority responsible for the applicant's place of residence as an annual hunting license for a maximum of three hunting years (Section 11 (4) of the Federal Hunting Act) or as a daily hunting license for fourteen consecutive days according to uniform models.
The hunting license is valid in the entire federal territory (§15 par. 2 Federal Hunting Law).

The first issuance of a hunting license is conditional upon the applicant having passed a hunter's examination within the scope of this Act.

The issuance of a hunting license is subject to a fee. The total amount consists of the administrative fee and the share of the hunting tax.

Day hunting license for 14 consecutive days: 45,00 Euro; reduced: 22,50 Euro

Annual hunting license for 1 year: 70,00 Euro; reduced: 35,00 Euro

Annual hunting license for 3 years: 135,00 Euro; reduced: 67,50 Euro

The issuance of a hunting license is applied for at the competent authority. If the relevant requirements are met, the competent authority shall issue the hunting license to the applicant.

The processing depends, among other things, on the cooperation of other authorities. The processing time may vary.

There are no separate deadlines. The instructions of the competent authority must be observed.

Regulations in this regard are made by the responsible district office or the independent city.
