Here you can get information about after-school care for your child in elementary school or day care centers.

Every child in Thuringia is entitled to after-school care from the time they start school until they finish elementary school. Care can be provided in after-school programs at elementary schools and in daycare centers. After-school care in Thuringia is an organizational part of elementary school and attendance is voluntary. It is an institution that complements families and supports teaching, promotes children's independence, creates the conditions for practicing social behavior, acting responsibly and pursuing individual needs and inclinations.

Elementary school children are entitled to support in an after-school care center at an elementary school from Mondays to Fridays with a daily care time of ten hours, counting the teaching time.

Admission to the after-school care program:

Parents must apply in writing to the relevant elementary school by May 31 for admission to the after-school care program for the period before the first and after the last lesson for the following school year.

Parents participate in the after-school fees, which consist of personnel and material costs. The income and the number of children in a family are taken into account in an appropriate manner. Information on the amount of the after-school care fees is provided by the school board.
