Water supervision involves measures to avert dangers to the general public, individuals or to water bodies caused by the condition or use of water bodies, banks, dikes, floodplains, water protection and medicinal spring protection areas, as well as installations on or in water bodies.
Citizens who become aware of an issue that is suspected of posing a threat to water bodies may report it to the lower water authority. The lower water authority will check within the framework of water supervision whether measures are necessary to avert danger and will initiate them.
Water hazards can be reported for inspection to the lower water authority of the district of the district or the independent city for examination.
The lower water authority of the administrative district or the independent city is responsible.
