Funding is available for investments in the conservation, restoration and development of habitats, biotope networking and species conservation projects, the development of protected areas and much more. Grants of up to 100 percent are possible.
The state of Thuringia supports you if you preserve or restore the rural natural and cultural heritage in Thuringia and increase the leisure and recreational value of rural areas. Funding is provided either jointly with the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) or with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
In the EAFRD part, you will receive funding for
- Plans and studies for the management of Natura 2000 areas and other areas with special natural features as well as Natura 2000 species and other protected or endangered species,
- investments for the conservation, restoration and development of habitats, for the implementation of biotope networking and species protection projects
- the development of protected areas and other areas with special natural features in terms of visitor guidance and information, and
- campaigns to raise awareness of nature conservation issues.
In the ERDF section, you will receive funding for
- Renaturation and networking of habitats and safeguarding biodiversity with a focus on flood risk areas or in connection with watercourses
- Renaturation and networking of habitats, safeguarding biodiversity and the creation of urban recreational areas and green infrastructure in the urban areas of Erfurt, Jena or Gera.
The project must also make a significant contribution to adapting to climate change.
You can receive funding if the total expenditure amounts to at least 25,000 euros.
The funding rate can be between 80 and 100 percent of the eligible expenditure.
The projects are selected in a competitive process. You submit your competition entry to the Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB) by September 1st for the following year.
Funding is subject to the following conditions:
- Natural and legal persons under public and private law are eligible to apply.
- Your project must primarily serve the objectives of nature conservation and landscape management.
- You must not be obliged to carry out the measure due to other public law requirements.
- There must be an actual need for action. Your measures must be feasible and efficient.
No grants may be awarded to a company in difficulty.
After submitting your competition entry via the funding portal, your entry will be reviewed and evaluated by the ENL advisory board.
If your competition entry is selected for funding, you will be asked to submit your application via the online portal within a set deadline.
If all documents are complete and the application meets the requirements, you will receive your grant notification. You may only start your project from this point in time.
During the implementation of the project, you request the grant via the funding portal on the basis of paid invoices / personnel expenses.
Once the project has been completed, you must submit a proof of use via the funding portal within 6 months.
You must submit your competition entry for the project that you would like to carry out in the following year via the funding portal by September 1st of the year at the latest.
You may only start the project once you have received a grant notification.
Within the project term, the grants for the respective year must be called up for payment by 31.10. of the year.
In the case of multi-year projects, interim proof of use for the following year must be submitted by April 30 of each year.
Proof of use must be submitted six months after the end of the project.
This funding program provides EU development funds. For this reason, you must comply with certain obligations by making public reference to the support of the project with EU funds. We will inform you of the exact obligations (publications on the website, poster or construction sign) with the grant notification.
If you provide incorrect or incomplete information about facts relevant to the subsidy or omit to provide information about facts relevant to the subsidy, you may be liable to prosecution for subsidy fraud.
You have one month to appeal against the authority's decisions to the competent administrative court.
