If you wish to work independently as a midwife or maternity nurse or participate in partnerships, you must notify the lower health authority (public health department) of the commencement and termination of this activity.

If you wish to work as a self-employed midwife or maternity nurse, you must notify the lower health authority (public health department) of the commencement and termination of this activity. You must also report any significant changes (e.g. the practice address).
The health authority in whose area the activity is carried out is responsible.

• Authorization to use the professional title "midwife" or "maternity nurse"
• Declaration that a certificate of good conduct has been applied for in accordance with Section 30 (5) of the Federal Central Register Act for submission to the responsible health authority
• a medical certificate of medical fitness

You would like to work independently as a midwife or maternity nurse in the Free State of Thuringia.

Costs may be incurred in accordance with the fee schedule of the responsible health authority in the currently valid version.

If you take up self-employment as a midwife or maternity nurse, notify us in writing:

• Create the notification.
• Submit the notification to your local health authority in person or in writing.
• Attach the necessary documents.
  

The competent health authority must be notified immediately of the commencement of freelance work and the place of work, participation in partnerships, termination of professional activity and changes to the place of work.

• Notification of self-employment as a midwife or maternity nurse
• Commencement and termination of self-employment as a midwife or maternity nurse
• Commencement of an activity in accordance with the Thuringian Ordinance on the Public Health Service and the Tasks of the Health Authorities in the Districts and District-free Cities (GesDV TH) Professional practice of self-employed midwives and maternity nurses
• Obligation to notify and report in accordance with the Thuringian Law on the Practice of Healthcare Professions (HebG TH)
• Notification to the locally responsible health authority of the districts and independent cities in the Free State of Thuringia

The local health authority is responsible.
