If you wish to install a gaming machine, you will need a certificate from a chamber of industry and commerce confirming that you have received instruction on the protection of players and minors for machine operators.

If you want to set up commercial gaming devices that are equipped with a technical device that influences the outcome of the game and that offer the possibility of winning, you need a corresponding permit from the competent authority.
For the permit, you must, among other things, certify that you have been instructed in the knowledge required for the exercise of the trade with regard to the protection of players and minors. The training is carried out by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The training comprises at least six teaching units of 45 minutes each. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce will issue a certificate if you have attended the course without absences. The following subjects are covered by the training:

• Trade regulations and gaming regulations
• Gaming arcade law of the federal states
• Youth protection law

As an operator of gaming devices, you may only employ persons who can provide proof of training from the IHK. Office staff and employees with other tasks do not require IHK training on the protection of players and minors.

The training is given in German, so you must have a good knowledge of German.

There are no prerequisites.

Fees are charged in accordance with the fee schedule of the relevant Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The training is carried out and certified by the IHK.

• You attend the training.
• The training lasts 5-6 hours
• You will regularly receive the certificate directly after the training or a few days later

You must present the certificate when applying for a permit to set up gaming devices with winning opportunities.

The certificate is issued within a few days.

You have the option of lodging an objection with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce or filing a complaint directly with the Administrative Court.
