The profession of masseur and medical spa therapist is regulated in Germany.

This means that in order to work as a masseur and medical spa therapist in Germany, you must apply for a state license. With this permit, you can use the professional title "masseur and medical bath attendant" and work in the profession.

You will need the following documents to process the application:

• Proof of the state examination certificate, to confirm that the training period prescribed by the respective law has been completed and the state examination has been passed or proof of the notice of equivalence of the foreign professional qualification.
• Proof of reliability; this is the confirmation that you have not been guilty of any behavior that would make you unreliable to practice the profession. This must be done by submitting an official certificate of good conduct which is not older than 3 months when the permit is issued.
• Medical certificate stating that you are not unfit to practise the profession from a health point of view, which must not be older than 3 months at the time the permit is issued.
• As the facility must be authorized to accept trainees by the locally competent authority in accordance with the law on masseurs and physiotherapists, please enclose a copy of the authorization notice (available to the facility) with the application items. Alternatively, the competent authority as well as the reference number and date of the aforementioned notice can be noted on the internship certificate (please use the form above).
• Confirmation that you have the German language skills required to carry out the internship (language level B2).

The permit is issued if you

• have completed the vocational or higher education training prescribed by law and have passed the state final examination,
• have not been guilty of any conduct that makes you unreliable to practise the profession,
• are not unfit in health terms to practise the profession,
• have the necessary knowledge of the German language to practise the profession.

Is based on the respective administrative fee schedule of the federal state or on the fee statutes of the authorities responsible under federal state law.

You must apply for the permit from the competent authority.

Once you have submitted the application and all documents are complete, the competent authority will check whether you meet all the requirements.

If you meet all the requirements, you will receive the permit.

You may only start working once you have received the permit.

If the documents are complete, your application will be processed promptly.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

There are no indications or special features.
