Enrollment regulations of the respective universities

All students are required to pay a semester fee before the start of a semester. Only after receipt of the correct current amount, the enrollment or re-registration for the studies in the respective semester takes place.

As a student, you must pay a semester fee to re-register for the following semester. The contribution consists of:

• the contribution for the Studierendenwerk
• if applicable, the semester ticket for public transportation and in some cases a culture ticket
• the contribution for the student council
• the one-time initial provision with the Thuringian university and student union card (Thoska)

The share for the student union is primarily intended to promote the social and economic interests of students, for example, through the availability of student dormitories, daycare centers and dining halls, as well as the provision of an advisory infrastructure. The share for student representation aims to subsidize the costs of representing the interests of students internally and externally.

As a rule, you will be informed or reminded by e-mail or other communication channels about the semester fee, the payment deadline and the specific transfer purposes.V

If you are on leave of absence, you can be exempted from paying the semester fee, provided that the leave of absence takes place before the semester begins. An exemption after the beginning of the semester, however, is not possible, even if a leave of absence can still be granted during the semester for certain reasons.

No documentation is required.

• Fees are only charged for the initial supply of the thoska or in case of late payment
• The amount of the semester fee changes every semester. It is announced in good time on the university's website.
• It is possible that, depending on the method of payment and the financial institution, transfer or other transfer costs will be incurred by the payers.
  

The semester fee is to be transferred in the correct amount to the specified account of the university in due time.

Before beginning studies at a university, payment of the current semester fee and a fee for the initial thoska equipment is required at the time of enrollment.

Since the matriculation number used for these purposes, among others, is not yet known to you when you apply for enrollment, you must submit a copy of a bank statement showing the transfer as proof of payment when you enroll.

If you are already an enrolled student, you must confirm your enrollment each semester by paying the semester fee applicable for the upcoming semester. You must pay the semester fee so that the amount is actually received in the University's account by a specified deadline.

In this case, it is sufficient to use your personal payment reference.

If you have missed the transfer deadline, you can pay the semester fee in arrears within a grace period.

If you have paid too little and subsequently fail to pay the additional payment including the late fee, the payment is considered not to have been made. You cannot then be enrolled or re-registered. You may then be threatened with exmatriculation.

Processing of a wire transfer receipt is dependent on bank transit time, use of the correct reason for payment, and whether the payment is made in conjunction with enrollment.

Deadlines are published on the university's website, by email, and through other communication channels.
The re-registration deadline for a winter semester is different at each university. You should therefore find out about this in good time. The semester fee and any fees must be received on the university's account within this deadline set by the respective university.
For late re-registrations, a late fee (in addition to the semester fee to be paid in arrears) must be paid within a second deadline specified by the universities.

Applicants and students must pay the semester fees.

Depending on the payment method and financial institution, there may be costs for the payment itself.

In the case of foreign transfers, it is sometimes difficult for you to obtain exact information about the fees for a payment from abroad and to pay the exact semester fee due to the exchange rates.

Amounts paid in excess will be refunded to you upon request.

You cannot appeal against the payment of a semester fee. The administrative law possibility of objection and legal action exists at most in the case of the charging of fees.

• Receiving information about the semester fee
• Paying the semester fee and any fees for one semester
• Paying the semester fee for applicants at the time of enrollment
• Payment of the semester fee for students once per semester at the time of re-registration for the coming semester.
• The semester fee must be received on time in the correct current amount and with the correct indication of the person-specific purpose of use on the account of the university
• Enrollment or re-registration can only take place after the semester fee has been received.
• A late fee notice will be issued if the money is not received by the due date or if the amount paid is too small. The assessed late fee must also be paid by the due date.
• If payment is not received, or if the correct amount is not received, students will not be able to register or re-register for the upcoming semester. Students may be threatened with exmatriculation.
• The current semester fee is published on the university's website and is communicated for enrollment on the notification of admission or on the application for enrollment and for re-registration through various channels.
• The transfer initiator must also take into account the transit times of the financial institutions and arrange for payment accordingly in good time.
• In the case of international transfers, payers must usually reckon with additional fees charged by the financial institutions for the semester fee.
• The semester fee paid upon enrollment is valid for the first semester. For each subsequent semester, a new semester fee must be paid in the amount valid at that time and by the deadline announced by the university.
• The state universities in Thuringia are responsible for this.
