Energiepreispauschale für Studierende, (Berufs-)Fachschülerinnen und Fachschüler beantragen

Under certain conditions, if you were enrolled at a university or (vocational) college in Germany on 01.12.2022, you can receive a one-off flat-rate energy allowance. You must apply for this.

Students as well as pupils in vocational school classes whose attendance requires vocational training leading to a vocational qualification, pupils in vocational school classes and vocational school classes leading to a vocational qualification in a training course lasting at least two years, as well as pupils in comparable training courses can receive a one-off payment of 200 euros to relieve them of the increased energy costs.

If you are one of the addressees and meet other requirements, you can submit an application for the one-off payment online using the procedure provided.

• You must belong to the group of addressees of the Student Energy Price Flat Rate Act Belong. This includes:
  • Students,
    • From the higher education sector, these also include, for example, part-time students, students studying for a doctorate, students on a semester's leave of absence, students at universities of applied sciences for administration, or students on a dual course of study.
  • Students in vocational school classes whose attendance requires vocational training leading to a vocational qualification,
  • Students in (vocational) technical school classes that provide a vocational qualification in a training course lasting at least two years,
  • students in training courses at higher technical colleges and academies,
  • trainees in training courses at certain training institutions that are covered by a legal ordinance pursuant to Section 2(3)(1) of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG).
    • A differentiation is to be made in the case of trainees:

Eligibility depends on what kind of training institution they attend and what kind of degree they are aiming for. Trainees at a vocational school or a technical college who are pursuing a vocational qualification lasting at least two years are eligible for the one-time payment. This also applies to trainees attending a technical school class that requires completion of vocational training.

• AND You must also have been enrolled or registered at your training institution by the cutoff date of December 01, 2022,
• AND in addition, your residence or habitual abode must have been in Germany on the cut-off date of December 01, 2022.
  • Persons who have carried out a study stay/internship stay abroad limited to a maximum of two semesters and were still enrolled/registered at their educational institution in Germany at the same time generally have their habitual residence in Germany.

There are no costs involved.

You can apply digitally for the energy price flat rate for students, technical students.

• You set up a BundID account with the eID function of your ID card, with your ELSTER certificate, your electronic residence permit, your EU identity or your EU citizen card.
• Alternatively, set up a BundID account as a basic registration with username/password.
• You will receive an access code and, if necessary, a PIN from your training institution.
• You register on the website with your BundID account.
• You enter the access code (and PIN, if applicable) provided by your training institution into the application form.
• You provide the other required information, in particular the IBAN of your account, a joint account or a third-party account.
• Once you have sent your application, it will be transmitted to the relevant office in the country and checked (fully) automatically in the relevant country-specific procedure.
• As a rule, you will receive your approval notice within a few minutes.

The energy price flat rate is usually paid out within a few working days.

The processing of applications up to approval usually takes only a few minutes.

Payment is usually made within a few days of approval.

The application must be submitted no later than September 30, 2023.

  • is not attachable
  • is not taken into account for:
    • income-related benefits,
    • social benefits,
    • social security contributions and
    • the imposition of costs in child and youth welfare.
• Applications must be submitted by September 30, 2023.
• The Länder have issued implementing regulations.

• Competent authority: The competent authority in each case is determined by the implementing ordinance of the respective federal state. These implementing ordinances are usually published on the legal portal of the federal state.

• The Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society is responsible for applications from students enrolled at higher education institutions, at academies awarding degrees equivalent to university degrees or at certain training centers for Psychotherapy and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

• The Thuringian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is responsible for applications from students who attend vocational school classes and specialized school classes whose attendance does not require completed vocational training, provided that they provide a vocational qualification in a course of education lasting at least two years, who attend specialized and specialized secondary school classes whose attendance requires completed vocational training, or who attend a higher technical school or an academy, provided that it awards degrees that are not equivalent to university degrees .

• The Thuringian Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs is responsible for applications from students who are studying regularly at training centers located in Germany.
