Only a few activities that do not require a travel authorization card must be reported. Before starting an activity that is not subject to a travel authorization card, please check whether you may have to report it to the responsible office.

The following activities are exempt from the obligation to notify the competent authority:

• Whoever offers goods for sale or seeks orders (distributes) or purchases, offers services or seeks orders for services in the municipality of his residence or commercial establishment, provided that the municipality does not have more than 10,000 inhabitants;
• Whoever sells foodstuffs or other goods for daily use at regular, shorter intervals at the same place from a non-fixed sales point or other establishment; the prohibition of Section 56 (1) No. 3 (b) of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act shall not apply;
• Whoever offers printed matter for sale on public ways, streets, squares or other public places.

If you are carrying out one of the above-mentioned activities that are exempt from the travel trade card requirement under Section 55a (1) Nos. 3, 9 and 10 of the GewO, you must notify the competent authority of the commencement of your trade, unless you have already registered it under Section 14 (1) to (3) of the GewO. If there is an obligation to notify, the form in accordance with the Trade Notification Ordinance must be used.

• Identity card or passport with registration certificate
• Residence permit, if foreigner and no EU/EEA nationality

  • If you have your company headquarters in Germany, you will need:
    • For registered companies: Excerpt from the commercial register and, if applicable, a copy of the articles of association
  • If you have your company headquarters abroad, you will need documents from the country of domicile proving the legal form.

• Is based on the respective administrative fee regulations of the state or on the fee statutes of the bodies responsible under state law.

• You can notify your local municipality or city administration of an activity that does not require a travel agency card. To do this, contact the municipality or city administration/commercial office in which you have your usual place of residence or in which the future business will have its registered office.

You must report your business activity immediately upon commencement. If you report your trade late or incorrectly, you will be fined.

The contact person for the notification of an activity that is not subject to a travel trade card is the Trade Licensing Office at your municipality or city administration in which you have your usual place of residence or in which the future business will have its registered office.

Your municipality or city administration in which you have your habitual residence or in which the future business will have its registered office is responsible for receiving the notification of an activity that is exempt from the travel business card.
