Driving license class T is usually required for agricultural and forestry driving and can be acquired at the age of 16.

Anyone who wants to drive a motor vehicle in Germany needs a driver's license.

The driving license serves as proof of possession of the corresponding driving permit.

Driving licenses are divided into certain classes:

Driving licenses for classes AM, A, A1, A2, B, BE, L and T are issued for an unlimited period.

For the classes C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D and DE, the driving license is issued for a maximum of five years.

For the initial issuance of your driving license, you must complete training at a driving school and pass a driving test.

If you do not pass the test, you can retake it. There is no limit to the number of times you can retake the test.

If the maximum design speed of the tractor is 40 km/h or less, it is possible to obtain a Class T license from the age of 16.

Drivers of tractors traveling at more than 40 km/h and a maximum of 60 km/h must be at least 18 years old.

The fee is based on the fee schedule for road traffic measures in the respective version.

You must apply for the driver's license at the driver's license office in your place of residence.

You should apply for your driver's license as soon as you start training at the driving school. You can submit the required application at the earliest six months before reaching the minimum age applicable to the desired driving license class.

The theoretical test may be taken no earlier than three months before you reach the minimum age.

You must have passed the practical test within twelve months of passing the theoretical test, otherwise the theoretical test loses its validity.
