Some municipalities provide an online service for ID card status queries for information on the processing status (see "Online procedure" if applicable). Here you can find out online whether the requested ID card is ready or about the current processing status.

Note: After the receipt of the PIN letter is to be declared within the scope of the collection, the receipt of the PIN letter should be waited for first.

After an application for an ID card has been made, Bundesdruckerei GmbH is commissioned by the ID card authority to produce the ID card.

The applicant will be informed as soon as the ID card is ready for collection at the ID card authority.

According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Construction and Homeland, it usually takes at least two weeks from the time of application until you can pick up your ID card at the Citizens' Registration Office. In some cases, however, it can take several weeks. Please contact your local ID card office for information on the current average production time.
