You may apply for an exemption from the permit requirement for ammunition purchase and possession.

In principle, you need a permit to acquire and possess ammunition. However, the Weapons Act contains specific exceptions to this rule. In addition, you have the option of applying for an exceptional permit for a case not provided for in the Weapons Act, provided there are special reasons and public safety and order concerns do not conflict with this. However, this is only possible for cases that are comparable with the exceptional cases specifically named in the Weapons Act.

The weapons authority charges fees in accordance with No. 1.1 of the Annex to the Thuringian General Administrative Costs Regulations.

You can obtain an exemption as follows:

1. You make an application and submit the required documents,
2. the required documents are checked, if necessary you have to submit additional required documents
3. the requirements of § 12 paragraph 5 WaffG are checked
4. the decision under weapons law is made.
