The educational support according to enables young people, regardless of their social and economic situation, to complete a school or university education that corresponds to their abilities and interests.
You will receive educational support for your living expenses and for your education (need). In case of need, the amount of support depends on your income and assets and - since support is generally family-dependent - on the income of your parents and spouse or registered partner.
General requirements:
- German citizen
- foreign citizen depending on residence status
- maximum 29 years old
- Your performance as an apprentice leads to the expectation that you will achieve the training goal
- Proof of a need for support for living expenses and training
Depending on the type of training support, there may be further requirements.
Training assistance under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) enables young people to complete a school or university education that matches their abilities and interests, regardless of their social and economic situation.
The required forms are available from the offices for educational grants and can also be printed out from the BMBF website.
