The deregistration of a dog must be reported immediately to the competent authority.

The deregistration of a dog at the responsible municipality, administrative community or fulfilling municipality is required:

• if the dog owner moves to another place outside Thuringia,
• if the dog is passed on or given away,
• in case of loss of the dog,
• in case of death of the dog.

The notification must be made immediately after the occurrence of the notifiable event.

The reason for deregistration of a dog must be supported by appropriate evidence.

You must deregister the dog with the municipality, administrative community or fulfilling municipality in which the dog is registered.
The deregistration must take place immediately.

• Upon deregistration of the dog, the stored data will be deleted by the previously responsible authority, provided that the data is no longer required for the fulfillment of tasks.
• In the event of a move within Thuringia, registration is required with the municipality, administrative community or fulfilling municipality responsible in the future; with your consent, the necessary data can be requested from the municipality, administrative community or fulfilling municipality responsible up to now.

• The deregistration of a dog must be made immediately after the occurrence of the respective notifiable event. This can be:

  • departure of the owner from Thuringia

  • surrender of the dog

  • Loss of the dog

  • Death of the dog

• The local authority responsible for deregistration is the municipality, administrative community or fulfilling municipality in which the dog is registered.
• In case of a move within Thuringia, a registration in the newly responsible municipality, administrative community or fulfilling municipality is necessary.
