Exceptions to the truck driving ban during the vacation travel season (July and August) are possible upon request.

For urgent reasons, it may sometimes be necessary to deviate from prescribed driving bans in the Road Traffic Regulations. For such justified individual cases, an exception can be granted after application.

Evidence of the need for a special permit for the specific situation.

The justification must state why it appears unreasonable to carry out the transport on the subordinate road network in order to circumvent the prohibited routes.

Anyone with a justified request is entitled to apply. Exemptions shall be granted only in cases of urgent need, with due regard to traffic safety and order in particular.

The granting of exemptions for commercial purposes shall be limited to urgent cases. Detours are to be accepted as a matter of principle, since economic or competitive reasons alone do not justify the granting of exceptions.

According to the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt), there is a general fee range of 10.20 euros to 179.00 euros for a decision on an exception to the traffic ban for trucks (Geb.-Nr. 271).
