Approval of the tariffs for local rail passenger transport must be applied for at the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture.

Public railroad undertakings are obliged to establish tariffs in local rail passenger transport. Tariffs are transport charges and transport conditions without the prior approval of which rail transport services may not be provided. Tariffs must contain the charges or all information necessary for calculating the charge for the carriage of passengers and for ancillary passenger services, as well as all other provisions governing carriage. Tariffs shall be applied in the same manner to everyone.

The railroad undertakings as well as the transport and tariff associations with their registered office in Thuringia shall submit a tariff application for the conditions of carriage or their amendment to the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture, on which a decision shall be taken within 6 weeks.

Application with the conditions of carriage or their amendment

The railroad undertaking or the transport or tariff association must have its registered office in Thuringia.

50 Euro to 500 Euro depending on the administrative effort.

An informal application for approval of the conditions of carriage or for approval of the amendment to the conditions of carriage shall be submitted. If the application is to deviate from the provisions of the Rail Traffic Regulations or from agreements or requirements under Regulation (EC) No. 1370/2007, as amended from time to time, special reference must be made to this fact. The application is now examined to determine whether the fare exceeds a maximum fare set in accordance with Article 3(2) or (3) of Regulation (EC) No 1370/2007 and whether the conditions of carriage are in compliance with the applicable law.

The maximum processing time is 6 weeks.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

Approval shall be deemed to have been granted if the applicant does not receive a decision from the approval authority deviating from the application within six weeks of receipt of his application.

Action within one month of notification at the Weimar Administrative Court.

Tariffs for train services must be approved in advance. The application must be in writing be submitted to the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture.
