Do you want to use a type of construction that is not regulated or deviates significantly from technical regulations? Then you need a project-related type approval to prove its suitability for safe construction.
Designs must comply with technical regulations or be approved. If a type of construction does not do this, it may still be technically suitable. In this case, you need a project-related type approval. This provides extra proof of its suitability. The building authority will check the documents and proof of the type of construction that you submit with the application.

Documents to accompany the application:
- Designation of the building project with full address
- File number of the building permit and responsible building permit authority
- Details of the building owner with address
- Specific description of the object of the application (deviation from the proof of usability or absence of a technical rule)
Required if necessary:
- Declaration of assumption of costs
- Object-related expert opinion from a body recognized according to § 24 ThürBO
- Exact drawings of the construction elements/construction types to be implemented, in particular the deviating details
- Floor plans with details of the installation location
- Proof of stability or suitability for use
- Proof of fire protection requirements (any deviations approved by the building authorities)
- Thermal insulation certificate, sound insulation certificate
- Test reports from other, similar construction projects
All parties involved in the construction may submit an application.
If the applicant and recipient of the project-related type approval are not the same, a declaration of assumption of costs is required.
Fees are charged in the range of 100 to 5000 euros in accordance with the Thuringian Building Fees Ordinance. The amount of the fees depends on the amount of work involved.

You submit the application to Department 24 Building and Energy Technology of the TMIL.
You should enclose all documents required for the structural engineering assessment.
Once the application has been received, the completeness of the application documents will be checked.
The structural inspection of the documents then begins.
If detailed questions arise, we may ask additional questions.
Once the documents have been successfully checked, a decision is issued containing the project-related type approval. This decision is the proof of usability for the type of construction.
A notification of fees is issued at the same time.
