If you want to perform maritime guarding tasks, then you need an appropriate weapons permit.

If maritime guarding tasks are to be performed, the Hamburg weapons authority issues permits under weapons law throughout Germany. This is a prerequisite for the acquisition, possession and carrying of weapons and ammunition by the guarding company on seagoing vessels flying the federal flag.

• Permit = Permit under trade law issued by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) in accordance with Section 31 of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act (see further information).
• Application for a permit according to § 28a Weapons Act (= permit for the acquisition, possession, carrying of firearms and ammunition by security companies and their personnel on seagoing vessels)
• Managing director: identity card, or passport with registration confirmation
• Employees: copy of identity card, copy of employment contract, for foreign employees also certificate of good conduct
• Proof of the existing weapons qualification examination of the managing director or the entrepreneur (not the commercial qualification examination of the chamber of commerce) and his employees.
• Proof of safe storage at the German company headquarters and storage concept on board

• Approval of the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA)

depending on the expense of the individual case

• Permit for the acquisition, possession and carrying of weapons and ammunition Issuance for security companies and their security personnel on seagoing vessels
• If maritime guarding tasks are to be performed, the Hamburg weapons authority issues permits under weapons law throughout Germany.
• This is a prerequisite for the acquisition, possession and carrying of weapons and ammunition by the guarding company.
• Certain documents must be submitted:
  • Permit = Permit under trade law issued by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) in accordance with § 31 of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act (see further information).
  • Application for a permit according to § 28a Weapons Act (= permit for the acquisition, possession, carrying of firearms and ammunition by security companies and their personnel on seagoing vessels)

  • Proof of the existing weapons expertise examination of the managing director or the entrepreneur (not the expertise examination of the chamber of commerce) and his employees

• Fees are charged depending on the complexity of the individual case.
