Handwerksrolle: Ausnahmebewilligung gemäß § 8 der Handwerksordnung (HwO)

Under certain conditions, you may be granted an exemption from registration in the register of skilled crafts. You can obtain information on this here.

An exemption permit for registration in the register of skilled crafts pursuant to Section 8 HwO can be granted for a limited or unlimited period if there is an exemption reason and your master-like knowledge and skills in the requested (sub-)craft as well as in the commercial and legal field are proven. If it is not possible to provide sufficient proof of qualification in this way, you can prove the required knowledge and skills in an expert examination. The examiner is appointed by the responsible Chamber of Crafts. You are responsible for the costs of the examination.

The fees are regulated by the fee schedule of the responsible Chamber of Crafts.

However, an exemption permit does not entitle you to use the title of master craftsman and to train in the craft in question.

After you have received the exemption permit, you can apply for registration in the register of skilled crafts or you can take up an activity as a technical manager in another company.
