- §§ Sections 27 to 35 of the Eighth Book of the Social Code (SGB VIII), Child and Youth Welfare Act
If you have problems in educating your children, if, for example, no conversation, no rapprochement seems possible, or if your child shows abnormalities in development or behaviour, then the Youth Office will help you with a counselling and help service. For this purpose, the employees of the local youth office offer advice in difficult situations with the child, adolescent or adolescent.
Today, the Youth Office no longer sees itself as a supervisory body, but more as a modern service authority. In particular, the employees of the General Social Service, also known as "district social work" or directly "area of assistance for education", are working together with those affected to consider which assistance is necessary and suitable for their family. In addition to direct counselling, other forms of help to support and supplement parental education can also be offered here. They are divided by outpatient, semi-stationary and inpatient measures.
Sections 27-35 of the Eighth Book of the Social Code (SGBVIII) set out as examples of concrete educational aids (educational counselling, social group work, educational assistance, social pedagogical family support, day group, full-time care, home education and intensive socio-educational individual assistance).
The aim of youth welfare is to support families in their education and, in particular, to offer help for self-help.
Educational assistance, including counselling, is available to all families in stressful and crisis situations.
The services provided by child and youth welfare are largely financed from public funds. In some cases (e.g. home education), those affected can also share in the costs. Whether and to what extent parents share in the costs is examined by the youth welfare office. The social aspects of the family are taken into account during the examination.

If you need support over a longer period of time, the staff member will draw up an assistance plan together with your family. The youth welfare office then initiates the measures discussed.
