Ordinance on vocational school in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Vocational School Ordinance - BSVO M-V) of 4 July 2005
The vocational preparation year (BVJ) is designed to support young people who are required to attend vocational school in their vocational orientation and career search. The program is aimed at young people who have not found an apprenticeship or employment due to a lack of vocational maturity and who are not attending any other full-time school. All young people up to the age of 18 are required to attend vocational school.
In the vocational preparation year, basic knowledge in one or more occupational areas is to be taught and general education is to be expanded.
Vocational areas can be, for example:
- Agriculture
- Nutrition and home economics
- Construction technology
- Color technology and interior design
- Wood technology
- Metal technology
- Economy and administration
This program gives young people an insight into various occupational areas in order to identify their interests and skills.
Students who have not yet obtained the school-leaving certificate of Berufsreife can also obtain a school-leaving certificate equivalent to Berufsreife.
The BVJ is run as a full-time school and lasts one year or two years, depending on the prerequisites. Information on the BVJ in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania can also be found on the Internet athttps://www.bildung-mv.de/de/schule/berufliche_schulen/.
Young people who are required to attend vocational training without a job or training relationship may be admitted to the one-year vocational preparation year, who are to be prepared for vocational training because of a lack of vocational maturity or a lack of a secondary school leaving certificate and who have previously reached at least the target of year 8 (transfer after year 9). In addition, young people who are obliged to attend vocational training without a job or training relationship can be admitted who have left a support school with the completion of the course of the general support school, with the vocational maturity or with an equivalent educational qualification.
The course of the two-year vocational preparation year is taken up by young people who are subject to full-time compulsory education and have left the general support school without a qualification after at least eight years of schooling. In addition, pupils from the regional school or comprehensive school who have not reached the objective of year 8 after at least eight years of school attendance can be admitted. In justified individual cases, additional pupils may be admitted in agreement with the competent school inspectorate.
It is advisable to register for the vocational preparation year at the relevant vocational school in your area in coordination with the relevant employment agencies.
