German brandy may only be marketed with an official test number; the same applies to brandy.

The test number is issued upon application and only after an analytical examination. It is valid for one year. The application must be accompanied free of charge by a sample of three bottles of the beverage to be tested. The analytical examination is required by law.

In accordance with § 4 AGeV, the application specified in Annex 1 of the AGeV must be used. A sample of three bottles must be enclosed with the application.

The fees are based on the Veterinary Administration Costs Ordinance. Fees in the amount of EUR 100.00 are charged for the issuance of the inspection number in accordance with fee number 1.3.11.

If LALLF does not carry out the examination itself, an examination report from an examination facility approved by the competent body may also be submitted.

Upon request, several test numbers can be issued.

A copy of the test report must be kept by the applicant for five years.

You apply for the examination and issuance of the test number at the responsible state authority.
