The legal traineeship in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern generally lasts two years and ends with the second state examination in law.

There are two recruitment dates per year: June 1 and December 1. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has a Higher Regional Court which is responsible for admission to the preparatory service and training. Assignment is made to one of the four regional court districts: Neubrandenburg, Rostock, Schwerin, Stralsund. You can indicate your preferred location in your application.

The Second State Examination in Law is held twice a year in accordance with the recruitment dates. The examination consists of a written and an oral part.

Erforderliche Unterlagen

The following documents must be enclosed with the application for admission:

  • a certified copy of the certificate or a provisional certificate of passing the First Law Examination or the First State Law Examination
  • a curriculum vitae in tabular form with a current passport-sized photograph
  • a copy of your identity card or passport or equivalent proof of identity
  • clarification as to whether the person submitting the application is the subject of pending criminal proceedings or a public prosecutor's investigation for a crime or offense or whether disciplinary action has been imposed
  • a declaration of financial circumstances
  • an extended certificate of good conduct (document type OE) or a declaration that this has been applied for
  • if applicable, a copy of the certificate of service in accordance with Section 22 (3) of the Lawyers' Training Act and
  • if applicable, proof of the existence of a case of hardship in accordance with Section 22(2)(2) of the Lawyers' Training Act in conjunction with Section 7 of the Capacity Ordinance for the Legal Preparatory Service.

In the case of the intended service as a civil servant on revocation, the following must also be enclosed

  • a certified copy of your own birth certificate, if applicable a marriage certificate or the certificate of a registered civil partnership and, if applicable, the birth certificates of your children and
  • in cases of doubt, a certificate of citizenship on special request.

Please note:

  • To apply for an extended certificate of good conduct from the competent authority, you must first submit a written request confirming that the requirements for its issue have been met. You will receive this unsolicited after receipt of your application for admission. The certificate of good conduct will be sent directly to the Higher Regional Court by the Federal Office of Justice.
  • When using the online service, the certificates must be attached in the order listed in a compressed PDF file via the upload field.

Voraussetzungen

The prerequisite for admission to the preparatory service is passing the First State Examination in Law or the First State Examination in Law.

Germans and nationals of a member state of the European Union are to be admitted to the preparatory service upon application. Other applicants may be admitted to the preparatory service upon application.

As a rule, the preparatory service is performed as a civil servant on revocation. Anyone who does not meet the requirements under civil service law for admission to the civil service on revocation or does not wish to complete the preparatory service in a civil service relationship on revocation shall complete the preparatory service in a training relationship under public law.

Recruitment takes place on June 1 and December 1 of each year. The closing date is four weeks before the respective deadline. Only those who have passed the First Legal Examination and submitted complete application documents on time and without reservation can take part in the selection procedure.

You will receive a confirmation of receipt upon receipt of your application. If you are required to submit documents in addition to the certificate of good conduct, you will be informed of this. Only those circumstances will be taken into account in the selection process that are presented and proven with the application.

Bearbeitungsdauer

The Rostock Higher Regional Court will issue a confirmation of receipt upon receipt of the application. Training offers are generally only made after the deadline has expired.

Applicants who have achieved an overall examination grade of 8.5 or better in the First State Examination in Law or the First Examination in Law will receive a training offer before the end of the cut-off period if they meet the recruitment requirements. If the number of applicants justifies it, this limit can be lowered.
