Teaser

If you are obliged to use the organic waste garbage can, you may be able to apply for exemption from this obligation. This is often possible if you can properly compost your organic waste on your property (home composting).

Volltext

Most of the organic waste produced in private households is easily compostable. If you have a garden on your property, you can compost your kitchen, garden and green waste yourself in your own garden and then use it as a high-quality organic fertilizer for your garden in a proper and harmless way. This year-round recycling through home composting generally does not incur any additional costs.

If you have an obligation to dispose of organic waste or an obligation to connect and use the organic waste garbage can (compulsory organic waste garbage can), you can apply for exemption from this obligation if you compost and recycle your organic waste yourself all year round.

Hinweise

Do you have any concerns about composting diseased plants? According to the Plant Protection Service, composting in sufficiently large compost heaps should result in temperatures below which pathogens and pests such as fungi, viruses, bacteria or insects die. Diseased plants and plant parts therefore do not always have to be disposed of by a garden fire or otherwise in order to prevent further spread and infection in the garden. Home composting is sufficient.

An exception to this rule is the occurrence of certain plant diseases, for example caused by quarantine pests. Further information on dealing with these plant diseases can be obtained from your local plant protection service.
