If you already have a firearms possession card (WBK) and wish to purchase another firearm requiring a permit, you must apply for this.

The permit is issued by the competent authority by means of an entry in the gun ownership card (pre-entry).

If you are a sport shooter and have a green gun ownership card (WBK), you must have your recognized shooting club confirm that you need this weapon to practice your sport.

With the pre-registration, you have one year to acquire a weapon requiring a permit.

In the application for a permit for the further purchase of a firearm, you only need to state what type of firearm and caliber you wish to purchase. Further details, such as the manufacturer and exact model, are not initially required. You only have to provide this information once you have acquired the weapon and have fulfilled your obligation to notify the competent authority of the acquisition of the weapon. The gun dealer must also report the transfer of the weapon to you.

You must prove that you can safely store the weapon you wish to purchase.

• Identity card or passport (copy)
• Weapons possession card (WBK) or hunting license
• If applicable, proof of need from the shooting club (only for sports shooters with a green gun ownership card (WBK))
• Proof of safe storage

You can use the NWR identification numbers (NWR ID) to complete the application more quickly:

• Your personal NWR ID (P or F NWR ID) for your personal details
• the permit NWR ID for the firearms permit (E-NWR ID)
• the weapon or weapon part NWR ID (W or T NWR ID).

You can obtain the NWR IDs on request from the relevant weapons authority.

• Granting of permission to acquire and possess weapons and ammunition with an existing green WBK (pre-entry)
• Purchase of a weapon requiring a permit must be applied for (purchase authorization)
• Pre-registration entitles the holder to purchase a weapon requiring a permit; without pre-registration, the gun dealer may not sell the weapon
• For pre-registration, specification of type of weapon and caliber sufficient, not exact model
• Pre-registration is valid for 1 year; weapon can be purchased within this period
