To access the telematics infrastructure (TI) in the healthcare sector, you can apply for an institution card (SMC-B) from the Münster district government as a representative of a service provider institution.
Service description
The institution ID card (SMC-B) enables persons working in the healthcare professions at an institution to access the telematics infrastructure (TI). The telematics infrastructure networks all those involved in the healthcare system and thus enables access to the electronic patient file (ePA), for example, in the future. The process for obtaining the SMC-B involves two steps that are subject to a fee: Entering your institution in the electronic healthcare professional register (eGBR) and ordering the SMC-B from a trust service provider (VDA).
Process description
1. Electronic healthcare professions register (eGBR)
You apply to the eGBR for the right to keep an SMC-B. To do this, you fill in the application form with your institution's data. To do this, you will need a person working in your institution with an electronic health professional card and a scan/photo of proof of service provision in accordance with SGB V or SGB XI (e.g. care contract, confirmation) from your institution. Once your application has been received, it will be checked. An administrative fee is charged for the check. Once the check has been completed, you will receive an e-mail with the result of the check and your transaction number. You can use the process number to carry out step 2.
2. trust service provider
You can use the process number to order an SMC-B from a trust service provider (VDA) of your choice for a fee. Regardless of the provider you choose, you will receive a fully-fledged product. The VDAs charge an annual fee, which varies from provider to provider.
