Prior to each election, the municipal electoral authority shall establish an electoral roll for each electoral district, in which all persons entitled to vote shall be registered.
The municipal electoral authority shall draw up an electoral roll for each electoral district before each election. It shall contain the surname and first name, date of birth and residential address of all persons entitled to vote.
All persons entitled to vote who are registered with the registration office for a single dwelling or, in the case of several dwellings, for the main dwelling in the electoral district on the 37th day before the election (qualifying date) are entered ex officio in the electoral roll.
Under certain conditions, persons entitled to vote are entered in the electoral roll upon application (Section 15 (2) LKWO M-V). The application must be submitted in writing to the municipal electoral authority by the 23rd day before the election, stating surname, first name, date of birth and residential address.
In the case of registration in the population register upon request:
A written application stating surname, first name, date of birth and residential address must be submitted to the municipal electoral authority.
The right to vote is given according to § 4 Landes- und Kommunalwahlgesetz (LKWG M-V), that is:
- German
- Union citizen
- 16. year of age is completed
- permanent residence in the electoral area (municipality or district) or who otherwise usually stays in the electoral area
- not excluded from the right to vote.
In the case of registration in the population register upon request:
