The right to vote, the eligibility to vote and the grounds for exclusion from the right to vote and from eligibility to vote in state parliamentary elections must be established.

All Germans are eligible to vote in state parliament elections in accordance with Article 116 Paragraph 1 of the Basic Law who, on election day

  1. have reached the age of 18,
  2. have had their residence in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for at least 37 days according to the population register, their main residence if they have more than one residence, or otherwise habitually reside there without having a residence,
  3. are not excluded from the right to vote.

Anyone who does not have the right to vote as a result of a court ruling is excluded from the right to vote.
All eligible voters who have reached the age of 18 on election day and have lived in the electoral area for at least three months according to the residents' register, have their main residence if they have more than one residence or otherwise habitually reside there without having a residence are eligible to vote.

Anyone who has been convicted by a German court of law and is therefore unable to hold public office and obtain rights from public elections is not eligible to vote.
