- § 1a sentence 1 of the German Bee Diseases Ordinance (BienSeuchV)
- Article 84(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016 on animal diseases and amending and repealing certain acts in the field of animal health (OJ L 84, 31.3.2016, p. 1).
For the prevention of animal diseases and their effective control, the notification of animal husbandry is required. With the notification of beekeeping, the number and location of the kept colonies must be indicated.
For the prevention of animal diseases and their effective control, the notification of animal husbandry (cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats, fenced game for meat production, bee and bumblebee colonies, poultry) is required. With the notification of beekeeping, the number and location of the kept colonies must be indicated. The competent authority assigns a twelve-digit registration number, which the animal keeper then uses to register with the Animal Disease Fund of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The transmission of the data of the animal keeper can be made informally in writing, by e-mail or fax to the locally competent veterinary and food control office.
Anyone wishing to keep bees must notify the competent authority no later than the start of the activity, stating the number of colonies and their location.
For the services rendered within the scope of notification and registration, the competent authority shall charge fees in accordance with the Veterinary Administration Costs Ordinance. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the fees amount to EUR 15.00 in accordance with fee item 1.7.25 of the Veterinary Administration Costs Ordinance.
The beekeeper must notify the competent authority of the number of bee colonies and their location at the latest at the beginning of the keeping. The competent authority assigns a twelve-digit registration number, which the beekeeper then uses to register with the Animal Disease Fund of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The number of bee colonies kept and their location must be notified to the competent authority at the latest when beekeeping begins.
In principle, the activity is only subject to notification, therefore no legal remedies are required.
Notification of animal holdings is required so that the authority responsible for animal disease control is aware of the locations of livestock. It serves the prevention and control of animal diseases. The keeping of bees must be notified to the competent authority at the latest when the activity begins.
The notification of keeping is made at the locally competent veterinary and food control office.
