What is supported?
Supporting young people in their vocational orientation and improving the transition from school to vocational training; acquiring practical knowledge and experience in nature conservation and environmental protection or in environmental education in preparation for a possible apprenticeship
The object of the grant is projects for the implementation of the FÖJ in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the areas of nature conservation and environmental protection, agriculture and forestry, education for sustainable development and in youth education and overnight accommodation facilities with an ecological focus in accordance with the regulations of the Youth Volunteer Service Act (JFDG).
The FÖJ offers young people the opportunity to develop their personality and environmental awareness and to act for nature and the environment on the basis of the German Youth Volunteer Service Act (JFDG). It includes practical work at environmental and nature conservation sites, combined with five one-week seminars. Here, the participants discuss the course of the FÖJ and exchange experiences. The FÖJ also includes excursions, projects and specialist lectures on topics relating to environmental and nature conservation, climate protection and sustainable development. Professional and individual support is provided by pedagogically trained supervisors from the sponsoring organizations and at the places of assignment.

How is funding provided?
The educational support of the FÖJ is funded by the federal government. All other costs, in particular the services for the participants, are provided by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from the European Social Fund.
The grant is awarded on the basis of standardized unit costs as project funding in the form of a non-repayable subsidy as fixed-amount funding for the financing of expenses for participant remuneration, personnel expenses of the provider's educational supervisors, material expenses and indirect expenses of the provider. A unit is a month in which a young person participates in the FÖJ (participant month).

- Supervision of at least 40 young people
- Recognition and supervision of the same number of places of assignment
- Proof of certification as an educational center for sustainability
- The grant recipient must be licensed as a provider of the Voluntary Ecological Year in accordance with the provisions of the JFDG in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
- The grant recipient must declare that the provisions of the JFDG will be complied with during the implementation of the project.
- Funding is conditional on the grant recipient
- has a registered office in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern,
- supervises at least 40 young people,
- the project is carried out in volunteer placements in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern,
- does not deploy volunteers in its own organization,
- guarantees that it actively supports the free democratic basic order, teaches democracy and tolerance and does not recognize any places of assignment that suggest a radical attitude.
- The grant is awarded upon written application.
- The grant is approved for the duration of an FÖJ by written notification.
- The granting authority is the State Office for Health and Social Affairs.
