Your legal training ends with the second state examination. If you successfully pass the examination, you will be qualified to hold the office of judge and are entitled to use the title "Assessor".
The examination consists of 8 supervisory papers lasting 5 hours and an oral examination. Upon successful completion of the examination, a certificate is issued by the State Judicial Examination Office.

Admission to the examination is automatic after successful completion of the training stations, so that a separate application for admission is not necessary.
Each candidate will be invited by the examination office to prepare the examination papers. The examination papers are completed in the 20th month of training over a period of 2 weeks. After completing the papers, the candidate completes the elective station of the preparatory service, while the supervisory papers are assessed by 2 examiners. The candidate is then summoned to the examination, which takes place at the beginning of the 25th month of training. This consists of a presentation and 5 examination interviews (civil law, criminal law, public law, lawyer and focus). Passing the examination marks the end of the legal traineeship.

You must apply for a grade improvement at the examination office at least 2 weeks before the desired examination date. You must also pay the examination fee within this period. If there is a shorter period between the first oral examination and the next examination date, you can retake the examination to improve your grade on the third examination date following the oral examination.
