Eintragung in die Architekten- und Stadtplanerliste der Architektenkammer M-V beantragen

The professional titles "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect" or "urban planner" may be used by persons who are entered in the list of architects or urban planners of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Chamber of Architects.

You will be entered in the list of architects or urban planners maintained by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Chamber of Architects if you have successfully completed a degree course with a total standard period of study of at least four years in the relevant subject area and can subsequently provide evidence of two years of practical experience in the relevant subject area or if you can provide evidence of an equivalent foreign professional qualification.

• Proof of successfully completed studies in the field of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture or urban planning
• Proof of at least four years of study in the relevant subject area (certificate from the training institution)
• Proof of at least two years of practical experience in the relevant field (not applicable if you are or were already registered in a list of architects in another federal state)
• Police clearance certificate (not older than 3 months at the time of application)
• Proof of residence (certificate from the residents' registration office), employment (employment contract or employer's certificate) or branch office in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
• Proof of further training measures (4 hours per year) during the two years of practical work (not applicable if you are or were already registered in a list of architects in another federal state)
• Proof of professional liability insurance with minimum insurance sums of 1.5 million euros for personal injury and 250,000.00 euros for property damage and financial loss. The maximum annual benefit for all damage caused in an insurance year must be at least twice the minimum cover amounts.

You will be entered in the list of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Chamber of Architects upon application if

• you have successfully completed a course of study in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture or urban planning with a standard period of study of at least four years at a German university in accordance with the guidelines on training content set out in the annex and
• have subsequently completed at least two years of practical work in the relevant subject area, taking into account the statutes pursuant to Section 22 (1) sentence 1 no. 14.

In the field of architecture, the practical activity must be completed under the supervision of a professional (professional internship); it must build on the knowledge, skills and competences acquired during the course of study.

Professional internships completed in another member state or a state with equivalent status under European Union law shall be recognized by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Chamber of Architects, provided that they comply with the guidelines published by the Chamber in accordance with Section 22 (1) sentence 2 no. 14; professional internships completed in a third country shall be taken into account.

The registration committee of the Chamber of Architects must evaluate the professional internship after completion. The practical activity shall be deemed to have been completed if the applicant is qualified for the higher technical administrative service.

In the field of architecture, the certificates of professional qualification published or recognized as equivalent in accordance with Articles 21, 46 and 47 of Directive 2005/36/EC in conjunction with Annex V, point 5.7.1. of Directive 2005/36/EC as well as the certificates in accordance with Articles 23, 48 and 49 in conjunction with Annex VI of Directive 2005/36/EC shall be deemed equivalent to the requirements of paragraph 1, sentence 1.

Without prejudice to Article 10 letters b), c), d) and g) of Directive 2005/36/EC, the registration requirements are also fulfilled by

1. with regard to the study requirements, anyone who can provide evidence of an equivalent degree from a foreign university or other foreign institution,

2. with regard to the study requirements and practical activity, anyone who, subject to any necessary compensatory measures

a) has a professional qualification which is required in another Member State of the European Union in order to obtain permission to use the professional title there or

b) has practised the same profession full-time for one year or for an equivalent period part-time in the previous ten years in another Member State of the European Union which does not regulate this profession, provided that he or she holds one or more certificates of competence or evidence of formal qualifications which meet the requirements of Article 13(2) of Directive 2005/36/EC; the one-year period shall not apply if a regulated course of training has been attested by a certificate of competence or evidence of formal qualifications.

For recognition in accordance with sentence 1 number 2, the other requirements for evidence of formal qualifications or training in accordance with Article 13 of Directive 2005/36/EC must be fulfilled; training courses or evidence of formal qualifications within the meaning of Article 3 paragraph 3 and Article 12 of Directive 2005/36/EC shall be treated equally. Sentences 1 and 2 shall apply mutatis mutandis to a country treated as equivalent under European Union law.

A person may also be entered in the list of architects with the respective specialization and in the list of urban planners if he is able to prove, by submitting his own planning documents and employer's certificates, that he has carried out at least ten years of practical work in one of the architectural specializations or urban planning with a registered architect or urban planner and has demonstrated the theoretical and practical knowledge required for the profession within the framework of an examination with the involvement of professionally suitable examiners, which corresponds to successfully completed training in accordance with paragraph 1 sentences 1 and 2.

At the suggestion of the board of the Chamber of Architects, anyone who has distinguished themselves through the quality of their work in the field of architecture and can prove this through their own work may also be entered in the list of architects.

If the entry in the list of architects or in the list of town planners with the Chamber of Architects in a state of the Federal Republic of Germany has only been deleted because the residence or the branch office or employment in this state has been given up, the person shall be entered in the corresponding list within one year of deletion from the list without examination of the qualification in accordance with paragraph 1, provided that their entry requirements meet the requirements of paragraph 1 and there are no grounds for refusal in accordance with § 11. The simplified entry in accordance with sentence 1 shall also apply if the entry in the previous list is retained.
