If you would like to set up your own business, you can receive financial support if you take advantage of a start-up course and/or start-up advice.

Who is eligible for funding?

Recipients of funding are natural persons who intend to become self-employed by setting up a business, taking over an existing business or taking up freelance work.

The business must not have been founded or taken over at the time of application. Previous self-employment as a sideline is not eligible for funding.

How is funding provided?

The grant is awarded as part of project funding as partial financing in the form of a non-repayable subsidy. The amount of the grant is 80 percent of the eligible expenditure, up to a maximum of EUR 436.00 for participation in a business qualification course and a maximum of EUR 556.00 per day for the use of advisory and support services.

The grant is made in the form of training vouchers for

a) Participation in a course for basic business qualifications with 48 lessons of 45 minutes each,

b) the use of advice and support from consultants or a consulting firm for up to two days of eight hours each.

In the case of business successions, two additional days of advice and support of eight hours each may be subsidized in justified cases in accordance with letter b). The consulting and support services must relate to the negotiation process between those interested in the transfer and those interested in the takeover (purchase price determination, financing, development of strategies for the continuation of the company and similar).

What is supported?

In the case of innovative technology-oriented business start-ups or business successions, two additional days of advice and support, each lasting eight hours, can be subsidized in justified cases in accordance with letter b). The consulting and support services must relate to topics concerning industrial property rights, copyrights or patent searches.

The eligible expenses are

• the participation fee charged to the grant recipient by the training service provider for the training measure carried out in accordance with letter a, whereby a maximum participation fee of EUR 545.00 (net) per participant and course is taken into account, and
• the daily rates invoiced to the grant recipient for the consultancy and support services provided in accordance with letter b, whereby a maximum daily rate of EUR 695.00 (net) per participant per course is taken into account.

Discounts and rebates are not eligible for funding.

The training vouchers are valid for six months from the start of the approval period.

• Draft of a business concept
• Documentation on the need for qualification as well as advice and support as a result of a consultation with a Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Skilled Crafts in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
• Vote of a Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Skilled Crafts in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on participation in measures for qualification as well as advice and support in the context of the intended business start-up or business succession

A prerequisite for the grant is that the main residence of the grant recipient and the registered office of the planned or to-be-taken-over company are located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Projects in accordance with letter a) must be completed at an educational service provider that has state recognition as an institution for continuing education in accordance with Section 6 of the Continuing Education Promotion Act of 20 May 2011 (GVOBl. M-V, p. 342).

Projects in accordance with letter b) can only be carried out by suitable advisors. These are deemed suitable if they are listed in the consultant database of the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control or can provide evidence of suitable certification. Suitable certificates require a recognized quality management certificate and can be recognized by the approval authority.

The own contribution to be paid by the grant recipient may not be subsidized by public grants.

The application must be submitted to the granting authority in the appropriate form.

Once all documents relevant to the grant have been submitted, the grant is awarded in the form of a grant notification.

After submitting the application, including data transmission of the application documents to the the approval authority and the vote of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce or the Chamber of Skilled Crafts the project may commence.

The application must be sent to GSA - Gesellschaft für Struktur- und Arbeitsmarktentwicklung mbH, Schulstraße 1 - 3, 19055 Schwerin, to be submitted.

The object of the grant is participation in qualification measures as well as advice and support for intended business start-ups or business successions.

Funding is provided for qualification topics within the framework of courses as well as advice and support prior to business start-ups or business succession.
