Who is eligible for support?
Natural persons with professional and commercial aptitude who are at least 18 years old and who wish to become self-employed by setting up a new business at the time of application or whose business was founded no more than twelve months ago at the time of application.
What is supported?
Subsidies for living expenses are provided for start-up projects with a high degree of innovation during and after the start-up phase in the fields of engineering sciences, natural sciences or creative industries. The aim is to increase the number of sustainable innovative companies through start-ups.
How is funding provided?
Funding is provided in the form of a nnon-repayable grant of EUR 1,200.00 per month and applicant plus EUR 100.00 per dependent child per month for a maximum of 18 months.
For the jury procedure:
- Business concept
- Professional statement from a university or other suitable institution on the innovative character of the company
- Professional background demonstrating professional and commercial aptitude
For the application procedure:
- If applicable, the official and other approvals required for the start-up project
- Declaration on applications already submitted for further grants to finance living expenses
- De minimis declaration
- for companies that have already been founded, business registration/registration with the tax office
- Financing plan
- Main residence and future place of business in M-V
- The main business basis must be novel products or services with a high degree of innovation

- No simultaneous combination with another employment relationship of more than five hours per week is excluded

Once a positive jury vote has been received and all documents relevant to the grant have been submitted, the start-up grant is awarded in the form of a grant notification.
Application within twelve months if applied for after the company was founded
Applications must always be submitted in writing and signed to GSA - Gesellschaft für Struktur- und Arbeitsmarktentwicklung mbH.
The start-up grant can also be awarded to students starting a business during a semester off.
Subsidies for living expenses for start-up projects
