A fishing license (expert document) is required for fishing (angling). However, anyone who has not passed an examination to obtain a fishing license for life can obtain a temporary fishing license (vacation fishing license, tourist fishing license) for up to 28 days from the local regulatory authorities of the state of M-V and the associated issuing offices. A brochure containing the most important legal regulations on fishing, nature conservation and animal protection is provided with the temporary fishing license. When applying for a temporary fishing license, you must declare that you have acquired the necessary knowledge. The issued temporary fishing license can be extended within the calendar year of issue.

Application forms for the issue of a temporary fishing license are available from the local regulatory authorities or atwww.lallf.de/. The application must be accompanied by a declaration from the applicant that there has been no final conviction for a criminal offense against fishing, animal protection, water and environmental regulations or for theft of fish or fishing equipment in the five years prior to the application (application form), or that no fine proceedings have been carried out for a violation of the above-mentioned regulations in the three years prior to the application.

In addition to the fishing license, every angler also requires a water-specific fishing permit, which can be obtained from the person authorized to fish in the water (inland fisherman, fishing club, municipality). Fishing permits for the coastal waters of the state of M-V are issued by the Higher Fishing Authority (LALLF M-V). Fishing permits can be purchased for many waters in various online stores.
