If you wish to have an event scheduled, you must apply for this. There is no obligation to schedule an event. Scheduled events are exempt from certain requirements.
As an organizer, you can
- trade fairs,
- exhibitions and
- markets
and markets.
This means that you are exempt from the provisions of the Shop Opening Act, the Act on Sundays, Public Holidays, Days of Remembrance and Days of Mourning, the Working Hours Act and the Industrial Code. You can submit the application as a trader (natural or legal person).
The determination includes the subject, period, opening hours and location of the event. Provided there are no public interest concerns to the contrary, markets can be set for a longer period or permanently. However, trade fairs and exhibitions may only be designated for events scheduled to take place within 2 years.
The application for the designation of an event is at your discretion. However, non-scheduled events are subject to the general regulations, for example the obligation to obtain a travel trade license, the Shop Opening Act, the Working Hours Act and the Sunday and Public Holiday Protection Act.
If you wish to apply for exceptions, you must do so with the relevant authorities.
A determination replaces these individual permits. You receive market privileges from a single source.
However, you also have special obligations to observe in the case of an establishment.

The exact amount of the fee depends on the administrative costs. The basic fee in M-V is EUR 72.00 - 2,374.00.
In addition to the costs for the assessment notice, there are also costs for applying for information from the Federal Register and the Central Trade Register at the relevant authorities. These will be invoiced to you.
The amount of the fee for an assessment notice depends on the time required to process the application.
Before you can schedule an event, you must submit an application to the competent authority. You can submit this application online via the online service or using a PDF form.
If you wish to apply for the event to be fixed using a PDF form:
- Open the relevant form.
- Complete the application.
- Submit the required supporting documents.
- Send the application to the competent authority by e-mail or post.
- The competent authority will contact you if there are any queries regarding the determination.
- If your application is approved, you will receive a notification from the competent authority by post and/or e-mail.
- In the event of a rejection, the competent authority will send you a rejection notice by post.
- You will receive a notification of fees.
If you wish to apply for the assessment via the online service:
- You call up the online service.
- Fill in the application form.
- You upload all the necessary supporting documents so that the authorities can process your application quickly.
- Your application will be checked by the competent authority.
- The next steps correspond to the application using the PDF form.
Processing takes approx. 4 weeks to 6 weeks.
The processing time depends on whether it is a first event or a follow-up event. The processing time also depends on when the required documents are received (processing time at the Federal Office of Justice, which is responsible for the Federal and Central Commercial Register extracts, is usually 2 to 3 weeks).
There is no statutory application deadline. As a rule, applications must be submitted 4-6 weeks before the start of the event to ensure that applications are processed on time.
